Healing through Loving
At the end of the first ever Fields of Healing gathering that I was fortunate enough to attend the last few hours of, I noticed a Māori woman (New Zealand Indigenous Elder), extinguishing the closing ceremony fire and picking up the remaining wood pieces and sacred plants. On my hands and knees I slowly made my way to the fire ring and asked if I could help her collect the remaining branches. She said:
“Yes. But these need to get used.”
“I can use them. I am going to the beach with some of these people and we can burn the wood there tonight,” I replied.
“Oh great. And you are going to the ocean?”
“Yes I will be at the ocean in about an hour.”
“Well I must give this to you. I need you to make an offering for me to the Ocean.”
I obliged immediately and asked for the woman’s name. She stated her name, but that to know that didn’t matter.
“That isn’t important. Just remember the name of the offering,” she insisted.
Wait, what’s the name of the offering, I thought quickly. No, she never stated that.
“What is the name of the offering,” I asked.
“The Offering To The Ocean.”
Ah…
A big hug and kiss from her to my cheek and we parted ways.
Along the way to the ocean I connected with two beautiful women, both hurting and healing from past and present trauma and pain. It was instant release and instant healing with them and the entire Fields of Healing attendees.
I shared this story, of making the offering with both of these women, in hopes that they would too contribute to the offering. More Intentions, more Love, more Power to the Ocean and our Earth.
One of them shared with my that she had a bottle of the purest, cleanest water from the springs of Australia. She contributed that to the offering.
After we passed it round, sharing strong personal moments with the bouquet of sacred plants, I made my way down the rocks of the jetty to the relentless ocean. Waves were pounding and splashing up, allowing the sea mist to clean me too of all this societal greed and the many dilemmas that have held our spirits for far too long.
Before I knew it, the bouquet was in the air, joining once again with the ocean. In and out it went as the sea calmed to a stand still. We were ALL at peace in this moment. It serves as a reminder to always put the health of our Mother, Ocean, Land, Plants, Food, and Animals, first. I hope this can be a reminder for you too. She provides us with everything we need to survive and she is hurting. But we can heal her. Just like she has relentlessly healed us time and time again. Respect her when you are amongst her bearings. Pick up after yourself. Walk lightly on the earth and notice how your reflexes, stamina, balance, and health improves. The trees provide the oxygen you need to survive. Therefore, the trees provide you with life. Give them a hug every change you get and say thank you from your heart. Don’t allow judgement from any being slap into your consciousness that doing such a beautiful thing might be weird. This type of act with nature, this type of love, will continue to keep you alive. It has kept me alive and all of my friends who also respect nature.
Love is the answer. You can never love too much. Love your neighbor, your enemy, and that stranger. But most importantly, Love Yourself. You are your greatest teacher a lot of the time. Practice loving yourself every day and you will learn that love is the answer and just how much other beings love you.
I love you.
